Literally translated, the word sidepull means ‘to pull sideways’. This is also the principle of this bridle: the yielding of the reins along the neck on one side causes pressure on the opposite side of the nose: the horse turns. Accepting both reins creates pressure on the nose. This causes the horse to slow down or stop. This is of course in combination with other riding aids. The leather noseband of this simple bridle ends on both cheeks at a ring to which the throat strap and cheekpiece are attached. The reins are attached to a second ring in the same place, which results in finer rein control. In addition, a small leather strap connects the noseband and cheekpiece diagonally, which prevents the noseband from slipping and allows the rider to exert pressure on the cheeks. As with all bitless bridles, the noseband of the sidepull must lie on the hard part of the bridge of the nose, approximately at the beginning of the nasal bone. The throat lash of the sidepull version must feel tight, but must never be tied. This prevents the bridle from twisting. Very good and simple bridle for both horse and rider due to direct influence.It is used with light rein contact and is ideal for sensitive horses.This bridle is therefore particularly suitable for breaking in young horses and sensitive horses with high blood pressure.It can also be used to correct ‘ridden through’ and ‘spoilt’ horses with a fear of the rider's hand.The simplicity of the bridle makes it easy to use even for beginners. This bridle is very suitable for (long-distance) riding and trail riding. The bridle is only suitable for simple lunging with the aid of lunging goggles. The lunging goggles are attached to the rings where the reins are normally attached. When lunging with a double lunge or other auxiliary reins, use the same rings (available models are F.R.A.® pardoes and F.R.A.® shango).
